The Rancho Cucamonga had to overcome a good performance from Saint John pitcher Chris Monroe to claim a 3-2 win at Alpines Field. Monroe went 5.2 innings and allowed 1 run. Mario de la Cruz earned the save for Rancho, his 13th of the year. With the win over Saint John, the Cucamonga improved to 22-40.

Juan Velasquez came through with a big-time hit for Rancho. The pinch hitter smacked a 2-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to give his team the lead, 3-2. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.

"We were in it," said Saint John manager Clarence Byrd. "We just didn't score enough runs."
