With shortstop Jerry Cruz leading the charge, the Media Luna Marlins defeated the Brighton Steelhounds, 7-3, at Steelhounds Grounds. Cruz was 1-2 with a home run and 3 walks. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. Jose Reina was the winner. He's now 3-2. The loser was 21-year old left-handed pitcher Miguel Cisneros. Rod Arroyo notched his 2nd save in 2 chances.
With Media Luna leading 3-0 in the top of the fifth, Cruz hit a sinker from Alex Gomez for a 2-run home run. It was his 10th home run of the season and put the Marlins ahead, 5-0.
"We took advantage of our opportunities," Cruz told the Media Luna Citizen. "It's as simple as that."
With the win, the Marlins have a record of 36-30.
