Warfield Helps Trojans Beat Owls, 11-8
Joe Warfield impressed in the 11-8 USC win over Rice. Warfield, who is tied for 7th in the RDL in bases on balls with 43, belted 2 home runs. He scored 3 runs and drove in 4. USC reliever Bobby Gottlieb got the win, raising his record to 1-0. Noah Caton was tagged with the loss. Randy Stucki was called on to finish, recording his 8th save.

USC took the lead, 11-8, on Garry Moshier's 16th home run of the season. The grand slam home run came off Rice pitcher Noah Caton in the bottom of the seventh.

USC manager Bryan Fulcher was pleased with the team's effort. "Our guys went out there and put good wood on the ball," he said.

The Trojans now have a mark of 23-14.
