The Auburn Tigers weathered a fine game by North Carolina right fielder Ron Gerlt to upend the Tar Heels, 6-4, at Bruisers Ballpark. Gerlt slugged 2 home runs. Picking up his 1st save was 23-year old left-handed pitcher Davey Tobias. The loss makes North Carolina 23-14.

Auburn used a clutch at-bat from Joe Sewell to capture the win. The left fielder hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the second inning to put the Tigers ahead, 3-0. It was his lone hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.

"When there are games to be won, you win them," said Auburn manager Sean Clark.
