Werewolves Dealt 3-1 Loss by Saint John
|
Sal Leyva, who is tied for 3rd in the TLA in complete games with 2, pitched well, but the Ft. Worth Werewolves still fell short, losing, 3-1, to the Saint John Alpines at Alpines Field. Saint John reliever Edwin Mares picked up the win, upping his record to 6-0. Sal Leyva was saddled with the loss. With the win, Saint John has a record of 54-12. Ft. Worth falls to 24-42.
The game was on the line with two out in the top of the eighth inning, but Momosuke Egawa didn't flinch. With runners on 1st and 2nd and Ft. Worth trailing 3-1, Egawa retired Oscar Cordero to end the threat. "Nothing to it," said Egawa, with a wink.
