Redmond drives in 3 runs to Power Hoosiers Offense
|
Getting offensive support from Howie Redmond, the Bloomington Hoosiers topped the Brighton Steelhounds, 13-10. Redmond was 2 for 3 with a home run, a double, a walk, and was hit by a pitch. He scored 4 runs and drove in 3 for the Hoosiers. Bloomington reliever Bret Byrne picked up the win, upping his record to 3-2. Tom Dukes was saddled with the loss. Jose Rios was called on to finish, recording his 5th save.
Adam Timberlake provided a timely hit. The Bloomington first baseman delivered a bases-clearing triple in the top of the ninth inning to put the Hoosiers on top, 13-10. It was his only hit in the game, but he made it count.
Hoosiers manager Eric Levreault wasn't all too pleased, despite the win, telling reporters that the performance highlighted some clear areas for improvement moving forward. He refused to be more specific, however. "I'm not gonna publicize our weaknesses," he said. "That stuff stays in the clubhouse."
The Hoosiers improved their record to 37-40 by beating Brighton.
