Golden Eagles Get One-Run Win at Long Beach State
|
The South Mississippi Golden Eagles defeated the Long Beach State 49'ers, 2-1, in Rod Dedeaux League action at Ballpark of Macclenny College, with South Mississippi pitcher Terry Gold named player of the game. Gold, now 4-2, was the winner. In 7.2 innings, he gave up 3 hits, while striking out 6, walking 1, and allowing 1 earned run. The Golden Eagles move to 21-22 with the win, while the 49'ers drop to 27-16.
Eric Manno had a clutch at-bat with no one out in the top of the sixth for the Golden Eagles. Coming up with runners on 2nd and 3rd and South Mississippi trailing 1-0, he hit a 2-run single.
"It all depends on which version of our team shows up," said Gold. "When we put it all together, I think we're a great team."
