Blue Jays Win Streak Reaches 6
|
Brian Ruddock was a major contributor to the 9-5 Toronto win over Saint John. The Blue Jays designated hitter went 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. Toronto starter Sean Meloche was credited with the win after throwing 112 pitches over 6 innings. His record now stands at 15-2. The Blue Jays, at 74-8, have a comfortable 31½-game lead in their division.
With Toronto trailing 1-0 in the top of the third, Ruddock hit a sinker from Mario Olvera for a 3-run home run. It was his 17th home run of the season and put the Blue Jays ahead, 3-1.
"It was a solid team effort," said Ruddock after the game.
