The Texas Longhorns beat the UCLA Bruins by a score of 8-6. Texas first baseman Juan Cordero deserved the lion's share of the credit. Cordero was 1-3 with a home run and 2 walks. He drove in 3 runs and scored once for the Longhorns. Rick Bowden was the winner in relief. His record is now 7-3. The losing pitcher was Xavier Warren. John McCormick sewed up the save, his 1st.

Cordero contributed in the bottom of the fifth. With runners on 2nd and 3rd, he hit a 3-run home run. It was one at-bat among others that helped Texas get the win.
