Waugh Leads Blue Jays to 9-3 Win Over Sentries
|
The Toronto Blue Jays finished off the Springfield Sentries, 9-3. Much of the credit belonged to designated hitter Ben Waugh. Waugh went 3-4 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He scored 3 runs and drove in 4 for the Blue Jays. Jeff Ferguson picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 5-0. Kevin Johnson was tagged with the loss. The Blue Jays improved to a lofty 90-9.
Adam Rummer went 1-2 with 2 walks and was hit by a pitch for Toronto. The 22-year old right fielder had a key at-bat in the bottom of the fourth. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 3-3 tie with a run-scoring hit-by-pitch off Andy Perdomo. It was his 150th RBI of the season.
"Everybody is chipping in right now," said Rummer. "That's what makes it so much fun."
