Titans Fight for 12-11 Win
|
The Carl Albert Titans managed to get by the Pitman High Panthers, 12-11, at Batfish Ballpark. Carl Albert designated hitter Brian Foley set himself apart with his performance. Carl Albert reliever Rich Dowdall picked up the win, raising his record to 1-0. Terry White was tagged with the loss. Sal Alfaro earned the save for Carl Albert, his 1st.
A key at-bat in the game came in the top of the second inning when the Titans sent teenager Jordan Brown to the plate against Panthers hurler Josh Tibbetts. With runners on 1st and 2nd and a whole stadium watching, the kid controlled his nerves and delivered huge, hitting a single off a 1-2 curveball to score 1.
"Baseball's a game where I feel like almost everything that happens is strange," said Foley. "Maybe that's why it's such a great game."
The win gives Carl Albert a record of 1-1.
