Owusu Slugs Vampires to 8-6 Win
Santa Clara left fielder Jeremy Owusu had a 4-RBI game, which helped his team beat the Downsview Mustangs, 8-6. Steve Merriman claimed the win after being brought in from the bullpen. The left-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 1.2 innings. His record stands at 1-0. Picking up his 1st save was 17-year old right-handed pitcher Justin Gillen.

In the top of the eighth, the Vampires grabbed the lead when Owusu hit his 3rd home run of the season. The 2-run home run off Phil Mills made it 8-6, Santa Clara.

"It wasn't our best performance," said Owusu, "but a win in this league is nothing to sniff at."

The Vampires, now 2-1, have been playing some good baseball.
