Patriots Win at Home, 12-8
|
The George Washington Patriots beat the Santa Clara Vampires, 12-8, at Osprey Ballpark. The win was due in part to left fielder Justin Donley, who was 1-3 with a home run and 2 walks, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. Earning his 5th save of the year was Nick Giancaterino. George Washington, now 8-4, has gotten their season off to a good start.
In the bottom of the fourth, George Washington designated hitter Brian Bowman had a productive at-bat. With the bases loaded and one out, Bowman stroked a run-scoring single to center. It made the score 5-3, George Washington. For the game, he was 2 for 4 with 2 singles and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once.
Donley told the George Washington Citizen: "Win or lose, I don't want to see our team outhustled."
