Surrey Field was the site of a tense game between the Surrey Thunderbirds and Estación Juanita Red Wings.

The Estación Juanita Red Wings had to overcome a good performance from Surrey pitcher Victor Valenzuela to claim a 2-1 win at Surrey Field. Valenzuela went 7.1 innings and allowed no runs. Jorge San Roman picked up the win in relief. Salvador Reyes took the loss for Surrey. Carlos Rodriguez earned the save for Estación Juanita.

The Red Wings beat the Thunderbirds in part due to timely hitting. Case in point: the two-out single Sergio Morales produced in the top of the ninth. Batting against Salvador Reyes, Morales gave his team the lead, 2-1, when he hit a run-scoring single.

"Tough loss," said Surrey manager John Griffin. "This one will sting for a while."

The defeat makes Surrey 73-45.
