The Canby Lancers defeated the Lerna Lions, 9-8, at Ballpark of Villahermosa HS. Chance Engleman was one of the standouts for Canby. His 3 hits included 2 singles and 1 triple -- this in addition to the 1 run he scored and 2 he knocked in. The 4th-place Lancers improved to 12-13.

Canby got a clutch hit from Tim Niemeyer. The third baseman launched a 2-run home run in the bottom of the 13th inning to win the game. It was his only hit in 2 at-bats, but it was a kill shot.

"We saved our best for last," said Niemeyer.
