Angel Sanabria did all he could to help his team win. In the end, though, it wasn't enough to keep the Surrey Thunderbirds from being beaten, 17-10, to the Martinsburg Maulers at Maulers Park. Sanabria was 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 5. Ivan Valdes went 6.1 innings, allowing 8 runs on 11 hits. The right-hander struck out 10 and walked 2. With the win, he's now 10-8 this season. The Maulers improved their record to 80-59 with the win over Surrey.

Jason Mitchen hit a bases-clearing double off Victor Valenzuela in the bottom of the second, which put the Maulers in front, 5-2. In addition to the double, Mitchen had 1 single, while going 2 for 6.

"We knocked the fire out of the ball," said Martinsburg manager Austin Alexander. "The guys swung the bats pretty good, and that's fun to see."
