Aiken left fielder Jay Owen was instrumental in helping the Thoroughbreds triumph, 9-5, over the Media Luna Marlins. Owen was 2-3 with a home run and 2 walks. He scored 2 times and drove in 4. The first-place Thoroughbreds, at 101-40, lead the TML LA West Division by 39½ games.

Early in the game, Owen had a 3-run home run for Aiken. It was his 12th home run of the season and put the Thoroughbreds on top, 5-2.

"From the last whatever, five, six, seven games, there's really only one way to go and that's up," said losing manager Victor Garro.
