The Victoria Cougars beat the Saint John Alpines, 5-2, at Alpines Field. Victoria shortstop Edwin Dunse, who is tied for 5th in the RLA with a .386 batting average, collected 3 singles and 1 double with 1 RBI. Joe Pierce got credit for the save for Victoria. It was his 45th of the year. With the win, Victoria goes to 95-63, while the Alpines fall to 88-70.

The Cougars got a big hit from designated hitter Aleixos Gouveia. Facing Saint John pitcher Antonio Ruezga in the top of the fifth, Gouveia pounded a 2-run home run to right. His 24th home run of the season put the Cougars ahead, 4-0.

"I like seeing our guys get a return on what they've put in," said Victoria manager Tony Varela.
