Pipers Sink Cucamonga, 5-2
|
The San Carlos Pipers overcame a good performance by Rancho left fielder Travis Slavin to knock off Rancho, 5-2, at Pipers Grove. Slavin was 2-4 with a home run, a triple, and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Rod Romero picked up the win with 6.2 innings of work. He allowed 2 runs on 10 hits, while walking 4 and striking out 5. On the season, he is now 3-12. Gabriel Carrillo was credited with the save for San Carlos, his 1st of the season.
Willie Quinones helped out the San Carlos cause in the bottom of the fifth inning with a run-scoring hit-by-pitch. For the game, the right fielder was 1-3 with a walk and was hit by a pitch.
"Wish we'd had more wins to celebrate like this one," said Quinones.
