Yakubu Slams 3 Homers for Cornhuskers Monday, August 25th , 2064 The Sandy Springs Spartans knocked off the DeKalb Cornhuskers, 12-9, in spite of a fantastic performance by Cornhuskers center fielder Alemu Yakubu, who drilled three home runs but couldn't bring home the victory. "It's like going to the prom with the prettiest girl in school, having a great time, but then not getting a good night kiss," Yakubu said later. Yakubu finished the day with 3 hits in 3 at-bats, 5 RBI and 3 runs scored. Alemu Yakubu walked in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off Ryan Grabowski in the 3rd, hit a two-run home run off Ryan Grabowski in the 5th, walked in the 7th and hit a two-run home run off Mike Hampton in the 8th. Thus far this season in 27 games, Yakubu is batting .292 with 10 home runs, 25 RBIs and 21 runs scored. He has 31 hits in 106 at-bats. |
