Behind Gregory, Wauwatosa Blanks Fraser Valley, 5-0
Sunday, October 5th , 2064
Danny Gregory of the Wauwatosa Indians was on top of his game.
The 22-year-old tantalized the Fraser Valley Black Bears with crisp curves and changeups, mixed in with just enough fastballs to keep the batters honest, shutting them out, 5-0.
"He had the changeup working," Fraser Valley manager Albert Giles said in postgame comments. "You knew it was coming and you still grounded out -- and then he threw it even slower."
The Wauwatosa hurler had 4 strikeouts, gave up 3 walks and surrendered 3 hits in his complete-game effort.
Gregory told reporters after the game that "keeping the ball down is the key to being successful in this league."
"If you don't do that, they'll make you pay," he said.
This season, Gregory has a 12-6 record with a 3.37 ERA in 23 starts.
