Great Stroke: Vasquez Gets 5 Hits
Tuesday, October 7th , 2064
It was a downpour of hits for Tony Vasquez at The Coffee Grinder.
The Buzzard's Bay Beetlecats third baseman tore into Pacifica for 5 hits in 6 at-bats to pace the Beetlecats to a rain-delayed 21-5 victory. Pacifica manager Pedro Mercado bemoaned his pitching, speculating his club got flustered by Vasquez's big day.
"He was beating us and we stopped locating well," he said. "That makes you get behind in the count and you can't do that when a guy is hot like Vasquez was today. Not to take anything away from him, but bad location was the story of the ballgame."
Tony Vasquez singled in the 1st, hit a three-run home run off Dave Campbell in the 2nd, grounded out in the 3rd, hit an RBI double in the 5th, hit a two-run home run off Sean Boyce in the 6th and singled in the 8th.
In 51 games this season, Vasquez has compiled a .319 batting average with 44 hits and 3 home runs. He has also scored 18 times and knocked in 18 runs.
