Whitecaps Take Tight Tilt
|
Luke Hopkins pitched well, but the Kelowna Rockets still lost the game, falling, 2-1, to the Boston Whitecaps at Joey Naples Memorial Colloseum. The win was credited to Victor Vasquez in relief. His record improves to 1-1. Luke Hopkins took the loss. The win takes Boston to 4-4.
Boston used a well-timed hit by Jose Ortiz to capture the win. The third baseman socked a run-scoring double in the top of the fifth inning to put the Whitecaps ahead, 2-0. Though it was his only hit in 2 at-bats, it was important.
"They were just a little bit better than us," Kelowna manager Antonio Moreno said.
