Spartans Raise Rally Flag, Beat Frisco, 7-5
|
The Sandy Springs Spartans defeated the Frisco Rams, 7-5, at The Coliseum. Sandy Springs catcher Steve Whiteside had a superb performance. He was 2-2 with a home run and was hit by a pitch. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. The win went to Kenny Holloway in relief, making him now 7-4. Nelson Zermeno took the loss for Frisco. Justin Bailey was credited with the save for Sandy Springs, his 1st of the season.
Andy Ramey hit a 2-run triple off Nelson Zermeno in the bottom of the eighth, which put the Spartans in front, 7-5. In addition to the triple, Ramey had 1 single and 1 walk, while going 2 for 4.
"Say want you want about this team, they play nine innings hard," said Sandy Springs manager Rafael Alonso.
Sandy Springs, at 47-37, holds down third place in the TML AA Bruce Bochy Division.
