Pitcher Chris Knotts was sensational for the Boston Whitecaps in his team's 6-1 triumph over the Beaumont Drillers. Knotts earned the win. Jim Kein recorded the save, his 1st. With the victory, the Whitecaps upped their record to 58-39.

It could have been a different outcome for Boston, had it not been for Jose Ortiz, the 25-year old third baseman . Ortiz contributed a run-scoring ground out in the top of the second inning to put Boston up, 1-0.

"Our offense was purring," said Boston manager T.J. Hall. "Like a well-oiled machine."
