Drillers Lose at Home, 5-2
|
The Frisco Rams knocked off the Beaumont Drillers, 5-2, in RCL AA action at Drillers Stadium. Frisco pitcher and Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, native Luis Alvarado had an outstanding performance. Alvarado, the winner, moves to 8-2. He threw 6.1 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 5 and giving up 5 walks. Earning his 26th save for Frisco was Dan Thompson.
Tony Coleman had a big solo home run for the Rams in the top of the second inning. With Frisco leading 1-0 and the bases empty, he sized up a sinker from 24-year old right-handed pitcher Lorenzo Pagan and punished it. The result was his 16th home run of the season, which put the Rams on top, 2-0.
"Luis gets tougher when he has to, makes a big pitch when he has to," said Frisco skipper Joe Renken.
The win gives Frisco a season record of 62-48.
