Whitecaps Slap 4-2 Loss on Kelowna
|
Boston Whitecaps starter Chris Knotts pitched his team past the Kelowna Rockets, 4-2. Knotts, the winner, moves to 5-1. He threw 5.2 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 4 and giving up 3 walks. Earning his 23rd save for Boston was Chris Sarne.
Carlin Chamberlain had a big run-scoring triple for the Whitecaps in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Boston leading 1-0 and a runner on 1st, he got a slider from Corey MacIndoe, who is tied for 5th in the RAA with a 8.1 K/9 rate, and swatted a triple to right-center. It was his 5th triple of the season, and more importantly, it put the Whitecaps ahead, 2-0.
Kelowna manager Antonio Moreno said he was "mildly disappointed" with the loss. "We had our opportunities, but we didn't take advantage of them," he said.
Boston has 3 straight wins, Kelowna 4 straight losses.
