Drillers Walk It Off for 51st Win of Season
The Beaumont Drillers defeated the Clearwater Seagulls, 5-4, in RCL AA action at Drillers Stadium. Beaumont pitcher Mike Downey had a standout performance. Beaumont reliever Wayne Blanchard was the winner. His record is now 6-2. John Hunter took the loss. The Beaumont win streak is now 3 games.

The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the ninth inning, when Beaumont right fielder Yasumitsu Watanabe, facing John Hunter, had a run-scoring sacrifice fly. It gave the Drillers the 5-4 win.

"We had the game right there for the taking," said Clearwater manager Ayub Ndadaye. "But we decided not to take it."
